Energy-efficient appliances, low-flow faucets and a few other simple items have translated to hundreds of dollars in savings for some Highbridge tenants.
Dunn Development Corp. says 1212 MLK apartments is the nation?s first multi-family building to earn the Energy Star label. Martin Dunn attributes the rating to items like efficient air conditioning units, and refrigerators and low-flow faucets. Tenant Nereida Figueroa says those savings are passed on to her each month. Figueroa was paying up to $300 for her electric bill before moving into the 54-unit building, where she only pays up to $90 monthly.Dunn says an ongoing three-year study will confirm the benefits of the pilot program.
