There are unique animal experiences for the whole family in Westchester, and it’s only a quick "Road Trip: Close to Home"!
Greenburgh Nature Center is where life thrives among more than 30 acres in Scarsdale.
It's home to at least 100 rescued animals that will teach you something new.
"Here at the nature center, we show the animals in our loving care that are living with us in their forever home," Executive Director Alix Dunn says.
"We can teach about what it means to care for that animal and what they need to survive."
Some of the first you'll meet are the Sulcata Tortoises!
Naturalist Educator Andrew Michalski says they can grow up to 150 lbs. and can live through generations of people who visit them at their new brand-new barn.
As you walk through the nature center, you'll come across Butterfly Arbor.
It is a haven for one of the most beautifully delicate insects.
Through the summer, the lush meadows of pollinator plants will bloom with color and nectar, which helps bring you an up close and personal experience.
Native butterflies will flutter by and even land on you as you learn about their life cycles and vital roles in nature.
Visitors can also expand horizons by meeting animals and reptiles from all over the world at the indoor exhibit.
