Monday marked Andrew Cuomo's last day in office as governor of New York.

In his farewell address, he continued to defend himself following the sexual harassment allegations against him.

He says he believes he will eventually be vindicated.

"The attorney general's report was designed to be a political firecracker on an explosive topic. And it worked. But the truth will be out in time," Cuomo said.

Cuomo also gave his final thoughts on fighting COVID-19 and the delta variant.

Gov. Cuomo was stripped of his executive powers in March, so he had not been able to make any statewide mandates since.

"Teachers must be vaccinated. Masks must be required in high-risk areas, and private businesses must mandate proof of vaccination for large gatherings. Now, this simply will not happen without a law mandating that it happen," said Cuomo.

In a statement, Gov. Cuomo's team said he has no interest in running for public office again.

At midnight, former Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul was privately sworn in as the next governor.
