Former NYPD officer Bernadine Thomas was sentenced to five years' probation for killing her husband in a DUI crash, the state Attorney General's Office said.

Thomas, of Maybrook, pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide earlier this year as part of a plea deal. "I just want to say that I'm aware of the seriousness of my charges against me... and I accept full responsibility," Thomas said emotionally in Rockland County Court Wednesdaty.

The crash occurred on February 26, 2023, when Thomas drove over 100 mph on the Palisades Parkway in Haverstraw and hit a tree. Her husband died at the scene.
