Rockland County's chief medical examiner testified Monday about a murder outside a Spring Valley nightclub.
Dr. Lone Thanning told the courtroom 29-year-old Don Thompson was shot a total of six times in the head, chest, shoulder and other areas. Thanning said some of the shots killed Thompson instantly last August outside Club Horizen. Thanning believes the gunman was up to five feet away from the victim.
Carlos Herring is accused of murder in the case. Police found Herring in Florida and arrested him a few days after the deadly shooting.
A witness who was hit by gunfire during the incident also took the stand Monday, testifying he heard the shots, but did not see the gunman. The prosecution is expected to call more witnesses as the trial enters a third week.
