10h agoSoon-to-be former Rep. Mondaire Jones has revealed his next step to News 12's Tara Rosenblum - an appointment to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
He said his "dream job is to continue to be able to help people."
He said his "dream job is to continue to be able to help people."
"I'm really excited about that. It's a six-year term," he said. "It doesn't keep me from doing other things, including from running for office, which I know is on a lot of people's minds."
The appointment came from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Jones says the job of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights "is more important than ever before."
"Its purpose is to investigate and report on the state of civil rights in this country, including civil rights violations," he said.
According to Jones, a House controlled by Republicans is likely to stymie policies he holds dear, such as protecting the LGBTQ+ community and abortion rights.
