Family: 82-year-old man fatally struck by hit-and-run driver
The man’s niece identified the victim as Juan Alberto Germosen. She said he was well-known in the community and a member of the Quisqueya Sports Club.

yesterdayA hit-and-run driver fatally struck 82-year-old Juan Alberto Germosen in Haverstraw Tuesday morning on Route 9W, his family tells News 12.
Haverstraw police shut down Route 9W between New Main Street and Short Clove Road this morning "due to a motor vehicle accident."
Police say the vehicle was last seen traveling North on Route 9W from New Main Street. They describe the vehicle as a silver or white Ford Explorer with dark rims and a moonroof. The passenger side mirror should be missing and there should be damage to the front side bumper.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Town of Haverstraw Police Dept. at 845-354-1500.
