Family members have identified the man killed in last week’s explosion at a scrap metal yard in Walden as Richard Bowen, of Middletown.
Loved ones describe Bowen as a joyful and caring person who brought laughter to everyone around him.
“He was a wonderful person with a lot of joy,” a family member said in a statement to News 12. “He was always there for others. He loved to dance and make jokes. He was an amazing friend.”
The explosion happened last Wednesday morning at ASAP Scrap Recycling on Route 208. Investigators say a cutting torch sparked the blast that killed Bowen.
The incident remains under investigation by Town of Montgomery and state police.
