A family of seven is lucky to be alive after a fire tore through their home in Blooming Grove Sunday.
Jim Yager was able to rescue his five children from the house as the flames grew.
Neighbor Tony Adamo says he awoke to a loud bang on his door Sunday. He says Yager was at the door in a state of confusion screaming about his children and the fire. Yager had already rescued three of the children, who lay unconscious on the ground.
Salisbury Mills Fire Chief John Hess and other responders say getting to the remote mountainous neighborhood was a challenge in itself. They were able to do their job despite slick roads. Tankers filled with water to douse the flames arrived within three hours.
Neighbors are getting together to help buy the children Christmas gifts.
One of the children is in critical, but stable condition at Hackensack Medical Center in New Jersey.
