The parents of the 7-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted inside a bathroom at the Palisades Center Mall released a statement Friday, thanking law enforcement officials for arresting a suspect in the case.

Police apprehended 36-year-old Elio Pintado in New Jersey two weeks ago after he allegedly tried to lure another child.

Authorities say Pintado is the same man who was caught on surveillance video walking into the women's bathroom at the Palisades Center Mall movie theater on New Year's Day. He is accused of forcibly touching a girl in the bathroom.

If convicted, Pintado faces up to seven years in prison.
