Family and friends of a Newburgh soldier who was killed in Afghanistan gathered Friday to mourn and say special prayers at an upstate mosque.
First Lt. Moshin Naqvi was remembered by loved ones at the Mid-Hudson Islamic Association in Wappinger Falls in Duchess County. Many members hugged the soldier's father, Nazar Hussain Naqvi, offering their condolences.
The 26-year-old man was killed with four other servicemen Wednesday when an IED exploded near his Humvee. Naqvi had been deployed to Afghanistan in June, just days after marrying his fiancée.
?I don't know how we are going to take this thing for the rest of our lives,? Naqvi?s father says. ?It's a big family loss. We cannot imagine any other loss bigger than this.?
The family says a memorial service will be held in Albany when Naqvi?s body is returned to the United States from the Middle East.
