Soccer fans from across the globe showed out on Sunday as England took on Italy in the European Championship 2020 final.
Many fans gathered for a watch party of the game at Lago Ristorante in West Harrison on Sunday.
The game was carried live on a large television screen on Harrison Boulevard. The street was closed to traffic, but not to the hundreds of team Italy fans.
The celebration was a long time coming for Italy— the team last won in 1968.
This year was the Italian squad's year, beating England in a penalty shootout to win the final 3-2, dashing England’s hopes of winning its first major title since the 1966 world cup.
Watch parties for big sporting events may be nothing new, but Carole Belfiore traveled from Valhalla, knowing that this one would be special.
"We are going driving around with our flag. We are going to celebrate a win,” she says.
As fans watched and cheered on the ground and from the rooftop, this was the day these soccer fans had been waiting for.
