A man is facing serious charges after a fatal crash on the State Thruway last summer in the town of Clarkstown.

William Peralta, 25, of Elmsford, is charged with vehicular manslaughter and manslaughter in connection to the crash last August in the northbound lanes.

State police said a car driven by 47‑year‑old Steven Redner of Tallman was disabled for unknown reasons, partially in the lane of travel and partially on the right shoulder.

Police said the vehicle had its lights turned off.

Investigators said Peralta was traveling north in the same lane when his vehicle rear‑ended Redner’s car.

Both vehicles spun across all lanes of travel before striking the median.

Redner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Peralta suffered life‑threatening injuries.

State police said Peralta was speeding and intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Peralta was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court.
