Federal regulators have approved an environmental review for an electric transmission line that will pass from Canada to New York City.
The transmission line is under Lake Champlain and the Hudson River, but will be going through land in Stony Point to protect fish. Opponents say part of the line will pass through a historic battlefield and cemetery that date back to the Revolutionary War.
Alternatives include building a power plant near Stony Point, but some lawmakers feel the town and its residents have been left out of the process.
Supporters of the project say additional electricity is desperately needed.
