Prosecutors announced a 35-count federal indictment Thursday against 21 alleged members of a violent Woodlawn gang. U.S. Attorney Michael J. Garcia said members of the Dekalb Avenue Crew gang face charges of murder, racketeering, robbery and drug-related offenses. Prosecutors said from 1997 to 2007, the gang terrorized the vicinity of 213th Street and Dekalb Avenue.
Defendants are accused of selling cocaine and shooting competitors, killing at least four people. The organization is believed to have brought in $5 million, which the government is seeking.
Alleged gang member Carmen Moore remains on the loose.
