FEMA will begin assessing storm damage in Orange County today.

Federal Emergency Management Agency workers, in collaboration with state officials, will survey the damage in the Highland Falls area.

Once the full extent of the damage is evaluated, FEMA may provide aid accordingly.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) expressed confidence in FEMA's response, citing their past overwhelming presence whenever needed in any part of New York state.

"Samaritan's Purse," a charity organization, is also assisting residents in cleaning their homes, making them move-in ready, or preparing them for repair work.

Significant repair projects on the West Point campus are slated to begin in September.

Sen. Schumer estimates that the storm caused $100 million in damage to West Point.
