Municipal fire crews worked into Friday morning to contain a blaze that broke out Thursday night and burned nearly 40 acres of Harriman State Park.
Forest rangers say the fire broke out when construction crews were working near power lines with an open flame for welding. The flames were then fanned by wind coming off the mountains near Route 202.
The charred remnants of the fire are still being monitored.
