Eighteen firefighters are recovering Monday after battling a massive fire at a storage facility in Spring Valley over the weekend.
The Saturday morning fire destroyed nearly 50 units in the Public Storage on Pascack Road. It took firefighters seven hours to get the flames under control.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found propane and acetylene tanks inside some of the storage sheds, as well as a car and motorcycle filled with fuel.
In addition to the number of combustible items, firefighters say the blaze persisted because the nearest hydrant is 900 feet away.
There is no word on what started the fire.
