A fire damaged a home in Bronxville Wednesday.
It started shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday on Leonard Road.
Emergency crews say the fire erupted near a playroom in the basement of the home and quickly spread.
Fire crews from Eastchester, New Rochelle and Yonkers helped get the fire under control.
"It was very labor intensive to locate the fire. We had the main body of the fire in the playroom knocked down quickly but it had spread through the heat pipes so it got into the walls and the basement ceilings," says Chief Brian Tween, from the Eastchester Fire District.
One person was inside the house when the fire started, according to Chief Tween.
That person made it out safely.
Emergency crews say the damage inside is extensive. There's no word on when the family who lives there can return.
"That's really disheartening honestly," says a nearby resident.
Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.
