Firefighters in Tappan battled both the flames and snowy weather during a three-alarm blaze Tuesday morning.
Nearly 100 firefighters rushed to the scene on Ann Drive after receiving reports of a blaze at around 7 a.m.
Chief George Garrecht said the Tappan Fire District's main priority was to extinguish the fire before the weather made things more difficult.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, but Garrecht believes it started in the garage and spread to the rest of the house.
The homeowners, who only recently bought the house, were away at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
