A fire broke out at the Franklin Courts Apartments in Tarrytown, prompting a swift response from local firefighters and the evacuation of residents.
According to Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Derivan, police received a call about the blaze around 3:26 a.m., and fire crews arrived moments later to find flames outside the structure.
Thanks to the nearby firehouse, firefighters were able to respond quickly and evacuate senior citizens and pets from the affected unit.
The fire caused gas and electric shutdowns, as well as fire, smoke, and water damage to the unit. Fire officials will reevaluate the situation in the morning.
Building management is relocating residents to vacant units.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among residents or firefighters.
