A massive cleanup is under way in parts of West Nyack and New City that were hit especially hard by this weekend's storm.
People who live on Klein Avenue in West Nyack are picking up the pieces after Hurricane Irene's torrential floodwaters ran into people's basements, destroying a lot of their personal belongings.
Floodwaters from nearby Lake Deforest inundated by rains from the storm, combined with a release of water from the dam over the reservoir, devastated homes that had never been flooded before.
In New City, Ron Amendola, who has a minor heart condition, become trapped by falling trees brought down by the storm's high winds.
Power lines in the area have finally been de-energized and now crews are free to go in and cut trees apart.
