The latest round of flooding in Rockland is renewing concerns about the county's emergency preparedness. Local leaders held a public hearing at the Suffern Public Library Tuesday to discuss how prepared the county would be in the event of a major weather emergency. With criticism of disaster response delays in the south after Hurricane Katrina, special attention was given to the elderly and those with medical conditions. Residents, however, were more concerned about current flooding conditions. County drainage representatives said they are making sure the system is completely unobstructed to avoid future flooding.
