A traffic disruption in Hoboken is expected to slow the morning commute today. The closure is tied to environmental testing for a Hudson River flood project.

Starting today, 14th Street between Washington and Bloomfield streets will be closed from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. for the work.

The change affects drivers and bus riders:

  • New York–bound buses will be detoured through Washington Street before heading to 15th Street and then Willow Avenue to rejoin the usual route.

  • The bus stop at 15th Street and Willow Avenue will move to the north side. Signs will be posted to guide riders.

  • Buses bound for Hoboken Terminal will travel along Willow Avenue to 11th Street and move to Washington Street before returning to the normal route.

  • Traffic on 14th Street will also be shut down from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closure is expected to last two weeks.

Commuters are urged to give themselves extra time.

The project is expected to last two weeks.
