The Red Cross says this flu season may impact its blood supply.
The Red Cross says when seasonal illnesses increase, the number of healthy donors usually decreases.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts a severe spread of flu this year, with an early spike in cases already in several states.
The Red Cross says it needs donors to give now to ensure blood is still available when people need it.
The nonprofit organization is even giving a gift to encourage donors:
  • Those who donate blood before November 22 will get a $10 E-gift card
  • Those who donate over Thanksgiving, the 23-27, will get a Red Cross beanie
  • Those who donate from November 28-December 15 will receive a $10 Amazon gift card
