The eras of discovery, development and daring flights are brought to life at The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome.
Visitors can walk through one of the country's largest collections of early aircrafts from the turn of the 20th century to about 1939.
"We keep things in our museum as they were when they were last in service," director of operations Tara Grieb says. "It's amazing to see the transformation, and you really can see it when you walk through our buildings."
Visitors can get a real feel for the time period at airshows every weekend through the end of October. It's also where people can sign up for a ride on an original 1929 biplane. The historic aircraft is one of than 15 that rotate the flight line for the weekend airshows.
"It's a really great opportunity to see, hear, smell and feel the planes doing what they do best," Grieb says.
