Former Iona hoops stars give time to youth basketball program

Basketball players hit the hardwood Thursday to raise money for the Saving Inner City Kids (SICK) program. Former Iona College basketball standout Kashif Hameed founded and runs the Bronx-based program.

Basketball players hit the hardwood Thursday to raise money for the Saving Inner City Kids (SICK) program.
Former Iona College basketball standout Kashif Hameed founded and runs the Bronx-based program. Hameed enlisted his former teammates to play against the SICK all-stars. The program gives at-risk youth an outlet to escape the trappings of city streets.
Mount?s Alejo Rodriguez, who plans to play for Iona, says he liked what he saw. Rice and St. John?s players were also on hand.
