Two Middletown nonagenarians -- one a World War II veteran who recently became the oldest person to ever graduate from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, the other a former Middletown mayor -- got engaged over Memorial Day Weekend.
Alvin Mann, 94, and Gertrude Mokotoff, 98, plan to marry in August after dating for eight years. They have a combined seven children and five grandchildren from previous marriages.
"Gertrude kind of broke the ice," Mann says. "We went out to lunch one day and the rest is history."
The couple plans to enjoy being newlyweds.
"Every day is a honeymoon," Mokotoff says. "It's the only way I can describe it. Isn't he sweet?"
