Robert Pope was sentenced to a decade in federal prison today in federal court in White Plains for enticing a 16-year-old to engage in sexual activity, according to the United States District Attorney’s office.
Pope, 32, who pleaded guilty in federal court, was previously sentenced on county charges in September to four years in prison, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s office.
Both sentences will run concurrently.
Investigators say the boy’s mother found explicit texts and photos on her son’s cell phone and alerted police.
Pope was well known in Mount Vernon as the owner of the Mount Vernon Baseball League.
Additionally, he was a former volunteer coach at Mount Vernon High School and a district leader of the Mount Vernon Democratic Committee.
