A former Newburgh Free Academy varsity football and lacrosse player is facing charges of attempted murder and assault in two separate 2023 incidents.

Daquan Cueto, 21, is accused of shooting at a person in the area of Broadway and Chambers Street on Feb. 13, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Cueto is also accused of stabbing a person at the Newburgh waterfront June 11.

He also faces weapons charges. He was indicted and arrested on April 24.

According to published online reports, Cueto was a senior and varsity athlete at Newburgh Free Academy in 2020.
