An appeals court has overturned the conviction of a former TV anchor from Rockland County. Dominic Carter, who was a former anchor for New York 1, was found guilty of beating his wife at their home in Montebello in 2009.
The appellate panel stated that he should have never been tried because the original judge made a deal to end the case, but then improperly withdrew the offer and went to trial.
The Rockland District Attorney may ask the state to reinstate the conviction because the decision was based on a technicality not evidence.
