Four displaced following house fire in Farmingdale

The Farmingdale Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at a private residence located at 25 Merrits Rd. at approximately 9:29 p.m. on Monday.
The fire was initially discovered by members of the Point Lookout-Lido Fire Department, who were returning from Fire School in Bethpage when they observed the blaze and alerted authorities.
Approximately 75 firefighters on scene worked together from multiple departments to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.
As a result of the incident, four residents have been displaced from the home.
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of possible heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
