Fox Lane High School held its graduation ceremony Thursday night remembering the senior student who was killed in a car crash that occurred just a few days earlier this week.
The accident happened early Tuesday morning at the corner of North Bedford Road and Edna Street.
Police say Joshua Martinez Arana, 18, was driving, another 18-year-old boy was in the car. The car crashed through the lot of an auto body shop. Police believe speed was a factor.
Arana died from his injuries. The other student was left with serious injuries.
Arana was remembered as a popular boy who had a great sense of humor and a positive attitude. Superintendent of the Bedford Central School Distric Dr. Robert Glass says they are devastated by his loss.
"You are seeing students come together to really talk to each other and go through the grieving process. You are seeing staff do the same, that is what you want to see in hard times," Glass told News 12 ahead of the ceremony.
Services for Arena had yet to be announced as of Thursday night.
