On day two of the transit strike, frustrations are mounting for Hudson Valley commuters.

Residents are not too pleased with the stalemate between New York City's bus and subway workers and the MTA. Traffic backups and chaos at Penn Station are just some of the inconveniences commuters have to deal with to get to the city. The Transport Workers Union (TWU) is being hit with $1 million-a-day fines, and bus and subway workers are losing two days pay for every day they are on strike. But it?s the commuters who say they are getting the biggest shaft of all.

The city and state stepped up their pressure on striking transit workers to try to force them back to work. A judge said he might send union leaders to jail for failing to end the walkout. The only good news in sight is that a state mediator has been brought in to try to get the MTA and TWU back to negotiations.
