Preparations are underway for the funeral of a fallen Marine who was based out of Stewart Air National Guard Base.
Marine Sgt. Owen Lennon, who grew up in Pomona, was among 16 service members killed two weeks ago in a military plane crash in Mississippi.
The Patriot Guard escorted his body to the Higgins Funeral Home in New City as his family prepares for the upcoming wake and funeral service.
Lennon was on the fast track in the Marine Corps, serving as one of the youngest flight engineers and having a plane named after him after he was honored as Marine of the Year. He and his financee had just put roots down in Orange County.  He is survived by his parents and two sisters.
Lennon will be laid to rest with full military honors on July 28 in Orange County.
