Family and friends gathered at a church in Rockland County to say a final goodbye to a Clarkstown councilman on Tuesday.
Mark Woods died of an apparent heart attack two weeks ago. He was five months into his position as councilman.
A visitation and funeral service for him took place on Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack.
The councilman and Army veteran also served the NYPD and a nonprofit called BRIDGES. Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann attended the services and remembered Woods as an "incredible" man.
"Amateur historian, Civil War afficionado, it goes on and on and on. As well as just an absolutely devoted husband and father," Hoehmann said.
Services concluded with full military honors outside of the church and a flyover from the NYPD Aviation Unit.
