Garden Guide: How to get watermelons to bloom in your yard

It's a summer favorite you can grow right in your backyard!
Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Alex Calamia shows you how you can get watermelons blooming in this week's Garden Guide!
Grow your own by starting off with a seed packet - sugar baby watermelons are a compact variety that will start fruiting about a month later and grow well in a container.
When planting, use a high-quality soil and a large container, but start amending it with compound like organic blood meal.
Watermelons are heavy feeders and need extra nutrients.
Then, expect the first fruit by July!
Happy gardening!
