A GoFundMe has been started for an uninsured Bridgeport barbershop after a fire caused $50,000 worth of damage.
The fire happened Saturday at Turn'N Headz Barber Shop and Beauty Salon on Madison Avenue.
Bridgeport Councilwoman Jeanette Herron says the owner of the shop did not have insurance.
Herron says like many small business owners, the owner had been struggling during the pandemic and decided to save money by not getting insurance coverage.
Herron says she is working with the salon to find a new temporary retail space.
Meanwhile, the owner has started a GoFundMe to help recoup his losses.
The shop is in need of everything from scissors to barber chairs. The $50,000 campaign has raised over $9,000 so far.
