A tragic chain of events led to the death of a Goshen mother just before 11 a.m. Friday on Route 17 in Chester.
Police say 46-year-old Eileen Darnley was driving east on Route 17 with her 3-year-old son in the backseat when she crashed into a guardrail. Darnley then got out of her car and was struck by a pickup truck as she crossed the road. Authorities say she was killed instantly.
The accident caused police to close down the eastbound side of the busy highway leading to miles of traffic delays. Authorities don't expect charges to be filed against the driver of the truck, a New Jersey man.
