(09/17/10) GOSHEN - A 110-year-old Goshen woman is not only the oldest person in Orange County, she is one of only 80 people to reach that age.
Anna Ferris was born in 1900 and lives at Elan, a nursing facility and rehabilitation center. She is blind in her left eye and has a weak short-term memory, but physically, she is very healthy.

Ferris says she looks forward to her daily visits from her great-granddaughter, Laurie. They chat, play checkers and Ferris enjoys her sweets. For most of her life, she was a homemaker. Her only daughter passed away in 2005 at the age of 80.
Ferris is part of a study at Boston University's School of Medicine aimed at revealing the genetic and environmental factors necessary to live to be a ?supercentenarian.?
Ferris says keeping active and positive are the keys to her amazing longevity.
