Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday unveiled the state’s new plan to tackle the rise of hate crimes, saying New Yorkers need to call out hate whenever they see it.

“No New Yorker should have fear,” she said. “And we can do it starting here today.”

Additional resources are being added to stop hate crimes, including $43 million to hundreds of nonprofits to boost infrastructure and security to be able to handle assaults and attacks considered crimes involving hate. Hochul also announced another $25 million will also be made available to the criminal justice division.
