Gov. Kathy Hochul is looking to make riding the subway safer. She's looking to add more police to subway stations, add barriers to subway platforms, and modernize some stations to tackle fare evasion.

Gov. Hochul says about 750 NYPD officers will be deployed at stations across the city.

On top of that,300 officers will be in train carts themselves and at least one officer on every subway train in the city overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

She's also looking to install platform barriers, starting with the stations that have the highest ridership. The barriers are to prevent people from being pushed onto tracks. Train lines in the Bronx like the 2 and 4 will see them as well as 100 others throughout the city.

To tackle fare evasion, modern fare gates may be coming to your local station as the governor also plans on adding them to more than 20 stations this year.

Under this new plan, LED lighting will be installed in all subway stations so that its easier to see.
