Greenburgh and Edgemont schools saw major schedule changes Friday after a water valve break disrupted service in parts of the town.

Greenburgh schools reopened after a three-hour delay, while Edgemont schools shifted to remote learning for the day as crews worked to restore normal water service.

Officials say a valve near Central Park Avenue and Ardsley Road failed Thursday afternoon, affecting residents in Edgemont, Hartsdale and Fairview.

Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said residents reported losing water throughout the afternoon and evening. Crews worked overnight after discovering the damage was more extensive than originally believed.

A worker at the scene told News 12 that water service has been restored, but residents may experience low water pressure for several hours as the system returns to normal.

Officials have not yet determined whether a boil-water advisory will be needed. Town officials say they are awaiting guidance from the county health department.
