A Greenburgh woman is fighting to prove she's alive after being declared dead by Social Security.
Susan Porter is very much alive and living in Greenburgh.
She got a notice that she was declared dead in October, a week after her son died.
Since then, Porter's health insurance and life insurance are in jeopardy.
Her checks for Social Security have also stopped coming, putting her family behind on bills.
"I really started thinking I was dead because the letters kept coming and it just got too serious," Porter said.
News 12 contacted Social Security. A representative then contacted Porter promising to rectify the issue.
