Two Bronx bus routes are some of the worst in the borough, according to a report released Tuesday by a watchdog nonprofit.
The New York Public Interest Research Group sent 23 volunteers to ride buses for its Pokey and Schleppie Awards for worst service.
The group found the BX19, which runs between Fordham and Upper Manhattan, is the slowest bus. The BX41, which runs between Wakefield and The Hub on White Plains Road, was deemed the most unreliable.NYPIRG recommends bus lanes be widened and the times be extended for buses only to ride in those lanes. The group also wants bus stops reconfigured and pre-boarding fares in effect during high-volume times.
Experts say transit woes may soon ease if the mayor's congestion pricing plan takes effect. The plan calls for improving public transportation while increasing bridge and tunnel tolls into Manhattan below 86th Street.
