A group home resident pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he attacked a fellow resident and then tried to burn the house down.
Police say the incident happened at Lukens House on Demarest Avenue in West Nyack, a group home for people with drug problems and mental illness. Resident Ethan Jimenez-Colon, 23, allegedly sneaked into a fellow resident's window last month and violently tried to rape her. The next day, he allegedly attacked her again.
Moments later, police say he turned on all the stove tops in the kitchen and sprayed oil in an apparent attempt to set fire to the house. Police say Jimenez-Colon had said he wanted to kill himself and take everyone with him.
Jimenez-Colon, who has a previous felony assault conviction, pleaded not guilty to 23 charges Thursday in Rockland County Court.
