Police: 13-year-old charged in shooting outside Poughkeepsie HS

A 13-year-old has been charged in connection with gunfire outside Poughkeepsie High School on Monday.
Police say they got a report of shots fired around 3:15 p.m. Upon arrival, witnesses reported that two male suspects were seen fleeing the scene.
After the searching the surrounding area, two suspects were seen in the area of Daniels Court and tried to flee on foot from officers.
One of the suspects, a 13-year-old, was found with an unloaded .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun, police say. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and taken to a detention facility.
Police also say they found .380 shell casings during their investigation at the school.
A 15-year-old was also taken in for questioning.
No injuries have been reported
School officials canceled a scheduled half-day for students Tuesday. Parent-teacher conferences have also been postponed.
Instead, Poughkeepsie city school district officials and others from the high school are meeting to talk about what happened and how to protect people moving forward.
The school has seen a number of fights break out since the year began, including one last month that required police to get it under control.
Officials say the high school will be closed Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
