Dozens of guns and more than $1 million worth of drugs are now off our streets, thanks to a multiagency law enforcement effort.
On Wednesday, Attorney General Letitia James announced one of the largest gun and drug takedowns in the Hudson Valley since she became the state's chief law enforcement officer.
The multiagency joint investigation recovered more than $1 million worth of drugs, 39 guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and $120,000 in cash.
Twelve people were indicted for their alleged involvement in distributing drugs through communities in Dutchess, Ulster and Saratoga counties.
Most are facing charges for allegedly selling drugs to people claiming to be oxycodone or Adderall but actually made of heroin or meth.
Ulster County Sheriff Juan Figueroa believes these individuals had been operating for some time before law enforcement stopped them after an 11-month investigation.
The attorney general's office showed that the flow of drugs came from the West and Gulf coasts.
