'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' reopens on Broadway today
Wizards and muggles rejoice because magic is returning to Broadway.
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" performances resume at the Lyric Theatre on West 42nd Street Friday after a temporary closure caused by the pandemic shut down the Broadway production.
The Broadway production of Jack Thorne's play, based on an original story by Thorne in collaboration with author J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany, who also directs, marks the eighth story in the "Harry Potter" series and the first official "Harry Potter" story to be presented on stage.
The show continues the adventures of Rowling's young wizard, who is now working in the Ministry of Magic as an adult, while his youngest son Albus Severus Potter struggles with the family legacy.
The production was previously presented in two parts, similarly to the West End production, but reopens on Broadway as a single show. The play is the most awarded production in the history of the Olivier Awards, with a record-breaking nine wins, including Best New Play.
