Hauppauge community demands answers over drag racing, illegal street parties

Police say they have made 12 arrests at the events so far this year and impounded several vehicles.

Hauppauge residents met with Suffolk police and lawmakers to discuss drag racing and street parties that have been terrorizing the community.
Hundreds of people show up to the events, which often involve loud music played from large car-mounted speakers.
The gatherings at publicized and streamed on social media.
Police say they have made 12 arrests at the events so far this year and impounded several vehicles.
New county legislation is being crafted to target the parties.
